Steward the Story: Human Connection in Digital Blueprint

Presidential Update – May 2026
Dear Members,
As we closed out May, our collective journey toward proactive stewardship took us from localized student engagements right to the heart of the global public relations community in Europe.
Our focus this month was on the practical application of narrative defense. In a landscape where artificial intelligence can easily generate text, images, and videos, the real challenge for brands and institutions is maintaining a genuine human connection. True stewardship means protecting the integrity of our stories by choosing authenticity over automated perfection, and focusing our strategic investments where they actually matter.
Whether we are guiding the next generation of creative media artists here at home or defining global strategies for digital reputation management on the international stage, PRSP is continuously working to keep human judgment and ethical leadership at the center of the conversation.
Here is how we advanced our mission this May.
May Highlights
- Global PR Conference in Prague (May 21–23, Černín Palace, Czech Republic)
More than 100 global public relations leaders gathered for the international summit, “Czechia: Heart of Global PR,” co-organized by the Global Alliance and ASCOPA. Representing PRSP and the Asia-Pacific region alongside Norman Agatep, APR, I addressed the delegation on the critical tipping points facing digital reputation management. We explored a 2026 operational blueprint built on four key pillars: solving the platform paradox by preventing resource drain, humanizing narratives to combat AI fatigue, deploying real-time newsroom agility, and earning consumer trust through user-generated content and micro-influencers. - You Are The Brand: PRSP x Mapúa SOMDA (May 15, Zoom)
We sustained our commitment to school engagement through a joint initiative with the Mapúa School of Media and Digital Arts. PRSP Trustee and School PR Caravan Chairperson Steve Michael Moore Jr. opened the session, setting the stage for a critical discussion on building and protecting personal reputation as a modern media artist. PRSP Vice President for Internal Affairs Norman Agatep, APR, joined other industry leaders including Mark Parlade, Paul Michael de Quiros, APR, and panel moderator Deivid Rioferio, APR, to share insights on using digital media to build lasting reputations and shape public narratives. - Honoring Labor Day (May 1)
We marked the beginning of the month by dedicating our platforms to the cornerstone of our profession: the workforce. Through our national social media tribute, we reminded our community that the daily dedication, hard work, and human sacrifice of our workforce forms the very foundation of the national narratives we are called to steward. - 62nd ANVIL Awards Call for Entries
We officially teased the upcoming cycle of the 62nd Anvil Awards across our social media platforms with the call: Trailblazers Wanted. This year, the country’s highest public relations honor aims to move beyond standard operational results. The upcoming awards cycle is specifically looking for groundbreaking programs and tools that pushed boundaries and charted entirely new paths forward for the Philippine communications landscape.
Incoming Initiatives and Next Steps
- June Professional Development Rollout
Our internal committees are wrapping up curriculum planning for the first official PRSP Academy training tracks, with registration details and training schedules to be announced next month. - Satellite Expansion Deployments
Coordination meetings concluded this May with our regional leadership teams to finalize upcoming school caravans and localized professional development initiatives across Cebu and Davao. - Institutional Asset and Compliance Reviews
The Board of Trustees continues to advance its regular internal reviews regarding outstanding contractor deliverables to maintain absolute administrative transparency and accountability.
Thank you for your continued dedication to elevating our practice. Let us keep pushing forward, ensuring that our storytelling remains deeply grounded in truth and human experience.
Yours sincerely,
