Presidential Update – March 2026

Dear Members,

For a long time, the public relations profession has been operating on the defensive. We have grown accustomed to a reactive model of PR – sprinting to manage crises, put out fires, and handle damage control after the fact.

But as we step into our 2026–2027 term, the reality around us has fundamentally changed. Misinformation is accelerating, AI is completely rewriting industry workflows, and public trust across all institutions is fragile. In this environment, reactive PR is no longer enough.

That is why our new strategic thrust for PRSP is built on a single, powerful mandate: Steward the Story.

This year, we are shifting our industry away from simple visibility and reactive amplification and moving toward a culture of proactive accountability. To steward the story means we must become the intentional architects of dialogue, the guardians of truth, and the proactive protectors of the narratives and societies we influence.

This February, we took our first definitive steps to embed this new mindset into the very foundation of the Society.

February Highlights

  • 2026–2027 Strategic Planning (Feb 13, Meralco Lighthouse)
To move from a philosophy to an active practice, the Board of Trustees convened to align our organizational priorities and KPIs. We established Steward the Story as our operational DNA, anchoring each committee’s goals, from professional development to internal governance, to measurable, proactive outcomes.
  • Introducing New Thrust at DOST Ad Meliora (Jan 30)
I formally introduced this stewardship philosophy before leaders from government, media, and technology at the Department of Science and Technology’s Ad Meliora event. The keynote focused on ethical stewardship and AI readiness, emphasizing that our role now is to build trust preemptively rather than patch it up later.
  • Supporting the Integrity Chain (Feb 10):
Proactive PR means actively aligning with initiatives that make the truth transparent. I was proud to represent PRSP at the launch of the Integrity Chain—a blockchain-powered platform by the Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). By utilizing tamper-proof technology to track public infrastructure spending, this tool makes accountability in public administration permanent and inevitable. It is a vivid example of narrative stewardship in action through technology.
  • Securing Our Flagship Platforms (Feb 23):
We formalized our partnership with Solaire Resort North as our official venue partner. This agreement secures a premier venue for the 33rd National PR Congress and the 62nd ANVIL Awards, setting the stage for a high-quality industry experience that aligns with the standards of our strategic vision.

 Incoming Initiatives and Next Steps

  • Official Board Induction:
We are finalizing plans for our formal Board Induction Ceremony, which will be led by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. This occasion will further allow us to champion public interest and transparency.
  • Steward HerStory Campaign:
In celebration of Women’s Month, we will begin spotlighting the incredible female leaders who are proactively shaping the communications landscape in the Philippines.
  • First General Membership Meeting (GMM): Look out for the official invite to our first GMM of the year, where we will gather to tackle trust-building and the evolving responsibilities of modern communicators.

Thank you for your trust as we begin this journey. We are not just adapting to the future of PR; together, we are actively authoring it.

Yours sincerely,
