Presidential Update – March 2026

Dear Members,

The momentum we established in February found its true strength this March. If February was about drawing up the blueprint for proactive stewardship, this month was about taking that vision directly into the communities, local governments, and academic institutions where the future of our industry is being decided.

Stewardship cannot exist in a vacuum. It requires us to show up where the difficult conversations are happening, whether that means sitting down with public officials to discuss governance, addressing mothers navigating the digital world, or confronting the realities of an AI-driven workforce.

Our focus this month remained clear: to actively protect public trust and ensure that, as technology shifts the landscape, the core value of human insight remains irreplaceable.

Here is how we moved the narrative forward this March.

March Highlights

  • Formal Induction of the 2026–2027 Board of Trustees (March 9, Temporary Pasig City Hall)
The PRSP Board of Trustees was formally inducted by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. Before the induction, the Board of Trustees and I met with Mayor Vico Sotto to discuss shared concerns surrounding misinformation, the misuse of AI, gambling advertising, and the continuing decline in media literacy. The dialogue reinforced our mandate that modern communicators must prioritize the public interest above simple corporate visibility.
  • Public Relations and the Diminishing Human Labor (March 26, Cavite State University)
PRSP took an active role in the 4th FRAMEwork Asia-Pacific Communication Conference, co-organized by Far Eastern University and a network of regional academic institutions. I had the privilege of delivering a special lecture on AI’s impact on the workforce and the evolving roles of communications professionals. We focused heavily on how the communications industry must respond to automation, emphasizing ethical boundaries and the critical need to protect human labor in an increasingly automated environment.
  • Advancing Member Health and Well-Being (March 5, Makati Medical Center)
Real professional stewardship starts with taking care of our own. We initiated exploratory meetings with Makati Medical Center followed by a meeting with Intellicare later that day at Ardent Communications to explore comprehensive healthcare partnerships, wellness initiatives, and integrated health benefits. True industry resilience depends on the sustained well-being of our practitioners.
  • Steward HerStory Campaign Launch (March 7)
In celebration of Women’s Month and as part of our social responsibility commitments, we launched Steward HerStory. This digital campaign spotlights the exceptional female leaders in Philippine public relations who continue to guide the profession through ethical narrative management, leadership, and trust-building.
  • Empowering Digital Literacy through TekkiNanays 3.0 (March 13)
We extended our advocacy for media literacy by supporting the TekkiNanays 3.0 initiative in Quezon City alongside government and media partners. The program aimed to equip Filipino mothers with stronger digital literacy, critical thinking skills, and safer online practices so they could help their families and communities navigate the rapidly evolving information landscape.
  • Risk Communication Workshops (March 19, Harolds Hotel)
PRSP collaborated with the Quezon City Public Affairs and Information Services Department (PAISD) to conduct risk communication workshops. The sessions focused on crisis preparedness, public information management, and responsible communication frameworks for government stakeholders, replacing reactive panic with proactive systems.
  • Navigating the Media Evolution (March 24, Dusit Thani Hotel Manila)
I joined media leaders, publishers, and editors at the United Print & Multimedia Group Philippines Print Summit and HeADliners Awards. The discussions centered on the integration of media platforms, reviving the print industry, maintaining institutional credibility, and preserving public trust during a period of deep media transition.

Incoming Initiatives and Next Steps

  • First General Membership Meeting (GMM)
We are finalizing arrangements for our first GMM, featuring key insights on public trust and information management within the current socio-political landscape.
  • Academic Partnership Audits
Following our discussions at the FRAMEwork conference, we are moving forward with structured initiatives to bridge the gap between learning and real-world agency practice.
  • 33rd National PR Congress and ANVIL Awards Preparations
Operational planning is underway with our venue partners to finalize the structural layout and specific theme tracks for our upcoming flagship industry events.

Thank you for your continued dedication to raising the standards of our profession. Together, we are ensuring that the human element remains at the heart of every story we steward.

Yours sincerely,
